STEP TWO
Get Pre-Approved for a Loan

Determine a budget, meet with your lender for a free consultation, review your credit, discuss loan options, and obtain a pre-approval certificate.

STEP THREE
Find a Real Estate Agent

An agent can represent your interests in the home buying process, narrow your search, and guide you through the paperwork. Check out our tips for finding a realtor here!

STEP FOUR
Go House Hunting

Determine your wants versus needs, and find a home that fits your budget.

STEP FIVE
Make an Offer

An offer is a legally binding contract, so understand all of the terms and conditions.

STEP SIX
Home Inspection

Avoid costly, unforeseen repairs in the future by ensuring all the mechanicals are in good working order. Learn more about meeting with a home inspector here.

STEP SEVEN
Obtain Loan Commitment

Your lender will order an appraisal to confirm the value of the home. Also, if you are eligible for DPA, your lender will obtain these approvals on your behalf. The commitment letter will remove the financing contingency in your offer to purchase.

STEP EIGHT
Prepare for Closing

It’s time to review your final loan commitment, arrange home-owner’s insurance, and start packing.
